I love apples..
Been having apples for breakfast for sometime now...and today as i took a bite of the big delicious apple it just got me into thinking, like "how healthy is it to have apples for breakfast?".
Decided to research and here is what i got!!!
5 reasons why starting the day with an apple is so healthy and beneficial.
Reason 1- Eating apples are a great way to help fight morning breath. The process of biting and chewing an apple stimulates the production of saliva in your mouth which helps to fight and kill bacteria. Apples are also a good source of pectin which naturally controls food odors. Additionally the fiber in the apple will help scrape bacteria and food off your teeth, leaving you with a fresher and cleaner smile. So instead of grabbing some gum or mints, grab an apple!
Reason 2- Apples help wake you up in the morning. Apples consist of fructose which is a natural sugar that takes longer to digest. This long lasting sugar will help provide stable energy for a greater period than even a cup of coffee with sugar. The fiber in the apple also helps to extend your energy, allowing for you to stay awake longer.
Reason 3- Gives you a boost of minerals and nutrients. Apples are filled with minerals and nutrients such as vitamin c, potassium, and pectin. Vitamin C helps prevent against free radicals which can damage your body and lead to chronic diseases. Potassium helps you to maintain a normal heart rhythm, and can even help to lower your blood pressure. Fruit pectin has been proven to help prevent cancer, lower cholesterol, and reduce stress.
Reason 4- Apples help to reduce stress. As stated above, apples contain pectin, a soluble fiber. This phytonutrient has been shown to actually help reduce stress. In the Winter 2007 study, “Nutrition Research and Practice”, scientists gave rats a diet consisting of pectin for four weeks. The rats given pectin had remarkably lower levels of the stress hormone epinephrine and norepinephrine.
Reason 5- Get full faster and curb your appetite. The fiber found in apples helps to suppress your appetite by making you feel fuller. The fiber also helps you avoid the blood sugar crash which usually leaves you craving more food.
Did you know that; Starting the day with an apple can help you crave less food later which is great for people trying to lose weight.
