This goes to my fellow women outside there who think that success can only be achieved at a certain age, mostly a young age, as many people tend to make us believe that if you more than a certain age then your time has passed away.
Well as it is said "poverty is a state of mind",, "success is for those who are ready to risk",,those who do not give up easly.
well here we go..
Timing is everything," says entrepreneur Raquel Johnson.
"By the time you're 40 years old, you've learned a great deal, both professionally and personally, and made a lot of mistakes. And I think respect comes with age - people take you more seriously."
It is said that Many women entrepreneurs are waiting for the right moment, and are starting their businesses in their forties or beyond - as a second or even third career - having bided their time until they are absolutely ready.
The real experiences..
Having worked in product design and then in advertising, Raquel Johnson realised that she did not want to return to the corporate world after she had her younger daughter.
It was challenging walking away from the "sure thing" of a steady salary, she says, but she also found it liberating. She has found her "true passion," she says. "Even the stress I feel now is more enjoyable," she explains cheerfully. "It motivates me and pushes me forward."
Starting small, the business was run from home and was self-funded at first.
"[When you are older] there is more opportunity for some savings to have accumulated," points out Johnson. "You don't have to take out large loans or search for funders right away."
"You have to push yourself, set your own deadlines and keep going,Once you reach your forties you have the confidence to follow your own path," says, Karen Scofield, who set up her company when she was 46.
A sense of humour is also important,
The hard work and "long nights" have been worth it, she says.
I know myself and my strengths and limitations so much better than I did in my twenties and thirties." Recognising when the time is right, and seizing the opportunity is absolutely key to success."
Never a better time than in your forties, seems to be the consensus.
The question of gender
"As a woman, you have to make people take you seriously. Men are more prevalent in business, and women have to work at changing the image of business to be gender neutral."
But, she adds, bias can be overcome. "I've watched people shift attitudes," she says.
In the early days she was overcharged for supplies, until she proved she had researched the supply-and-demand economics for that particular season. "I'm not sure a man would have had to prove himself in the way I did."
What I think..
We get better by age,12 months ago I was not the person I am today.
I am growing and learning about myself each day, I am now noticing my strengths, my value, my limitations, what I want, how to be and what to do of which some years back in my early 20s I was more of a decision follower( I let people made decisions for me, I let people walk in my shoes and did not have the confidence that is building up in me.)
As much as we want to make it in life, being successful entrepreneurship for those of us that were not born to be one, we need to get experience such as leadership and attention to detail, organizing and etc so as to create a foundation for what we ought to do later.
We need the salary too and it can be the source of capital too when used well.
Ladies wake up..
Girlssss, you have a win win power just like men, what I mean is do not concentrate so much on worrying about your age and not have gotten something....THINK,,,,THINK HARD...learn about your self, have the confidence and be ready to "CREATE"
It has been done by others, you can do it..
Do not ignore those beautiful ideas in your head.
We need to make a difference.
Candy..
